Spektrum DX3R Drivers Win at the 2009 ROAR On-Road Nationals

Click for more race images.Team Spektrum drivers Mike Haynes and Eli Ezrow both lead the pack en route to picking up wins at the 2009 ROAR Carpet On-Road Nationals. The race was held in Strongsville, OH and saw well over 280 competitors in attendance vying for championships in their respective classes.

Haynes set the pace early and was able to capture the TQ position in the 13.5 Super Stock Touring Car Rubber Tire class after 4 rounds of qualifying. The triple A-main format would see Mike have nearly a perfect series of races, although there were some serious challengers. Mike managed to finish second in A1 and proceeded to cruise to victory in A2. The third and final main was one of the best races of the entire event. Mike battled with several drivers over the course of the final 5-minute A-main but withstood all challengers to hold on for the victory. Mike backed up his win with strong runs in the Super Stock Touring Foam class, where he finished 6th, and in his first venture into the Open Modified class where he finished a respectable10th.

Click for more race images.Eli Ezrow continued his winning ways by scoring a thrilling victory in the hard-fought Stock Touring Foam division. What made this even more exciting was that this turned out to be the closest finish in ROAR Nationals history. At the completion of the third A-main a tally of the points revealed that three different drivers were tied for the win. After a few moments of suspense to calculate the tie breaker, which was the best combined time, Eli was announced the champion by just .14 seconds. This was Eli's second ROAR National title in the last six months, after having won the Master's 1/8 Scale Fuel On-Road division last September in Maryland.

Mike and Eli both relied on the precise feel of their Spektrum DX3R radios and new SR3520 DSM2 Micro receivers to help them win their respective ROAR National Championships. We'd like to congratulate both Mike and Eli on their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in the rest of 2009.
